cutting back new plants ?

within the next few days im hoping to get a java fern and possibly a crypt for my beta tank. I've seen mixed ideas and I wanted to know if I should cut the old leafs off and then put the plants into the tank , or if I should just let the plant melt back and regrow by itself. I would really appreciate any help ^-^

There’s always a chance for not melt, so my entirely non scientific opinion is to not cut and just pull rotting leaves as they occur. My last batch from the coop did not melt at all (tropica).

I second @RovingGinger's comment, I do the same exact thing with all my plants. They don't always melt back.

It's good to see the process too - if they do melt- so you know what a plant naturally converting to a new tank looks like.
