Aqua junky
Anyone bought a good TDS meter that isn't terribly expensive? I'm gunna give shrimp a go and all the videos I've watched they all test their waters TDS. I've seen a few on Amazon but thought I'd ask my local Fish Nerms before purchasing any. Thanks all and Most importantly keep it fishy Friends
AdamTill
Tds meters are not complicated things, so the inexpensive ones work fine. If you haven’t done so already, find Cory’s videos on TDS. In a nutshell, don’t try to match the TDS from your tank to something someone on the internet recommends (in more than a broad way). TDS is just “stuff” in the water that makes it conductive, it doesn’t tell you what that stuff is.

That's why I didn't bother buying a TDS meter and learned, instead, which "stuff" you want in the water for shrimp and which you don't. What Cory said in that video made total sense to me, once he explained what a TDS meter actually does. It's like being told there are chemicals in your tap water without being told what those chemicals are. So not helpful. LOL Cory's vid.
Mmiller2001
Any work, they are cheap. And I personally can't live without my TDS meter.

OnlyGenusCaps
HM is a pretty standard brand for TDS meters. Remember though that TDS is a calculated value, and you are really measuring EC (electrical conductivity). Different brands might have different TDS calculation equations, so if you are interested in absolute concentrations, get used to EC, but if you are just trying to get an idea if your RODI is still working, TDS all day.
