snails from plants

These showed up today about a week or so after adding the plants I ordered to my tank.  Any idea of what kind of snails they are.  I was setting up this tank as a shrimp only tank are these going to bother my shrimp?

They are bladder snails. They won't bother your shrimp.

Great thanks.  was a bit worried as I've not put anything in there but the plants from the co-op.  Don't even have shrimp in there yet LOL

They won't bother your shrimp, but they will reproduce like CRAZY.  Personally, I like snails, but I don't like these!  It's really hard to control their population effectively once they really get going, at least in my experience.

the classic pest snail. they wont hurt anything, but their population can get large quickly.

I have good news for you, since you said this will be a shrimp tank.  After you get the shrimp, catch one of those snails, hold it just below the surface of the water, crush it, drop it, and watch what happens . . . . Okay, I won't make you wait to find out.  I don't know about all shrimp, but neocaridinas will swarm on a freshly crushed bladder snail more than on any other food I've found.  So you can consider your bladder snails a free, self perpetuating food supply for your shrimp.
