Strange algae?

We have set up and are waiting for our 250 gallon to cycle and be ready for our Discus to go in. Our question is “What is the brown algae growing on our new planted plants ?” we have 4 tanks and have not ever seen the brown before.

This is a normal part of the tank settling in. It will eventually resolve if you do nothing, and many fish will actually snack on it. Consider it the awkward teen years of your tank. I have had this happen in 3 of my 8 tanks right after setup. A school of otocinclus would be in heaven and like the discus set up quite well if you want it gone extra fast.

Please post pics of your discus when they're in the new home. They're so beautiful and if I had the knowledge, ability, and tank size, they would be my fish of choice!
