Best Way To Trim Plants

Hi everyone!

I'm curious to know how do any of you does trimming on their plants? By that I mean, do you empty 50-75% of the water and the trim? Or do you do it with a full tank? I want to start cutting my plants because my sprite and my wisteria are growing out of control. My tank looks wild.

Do it full so it’s easier to see versus them laying over.

Thanks! I was afraid of me trying to plant the trimmings and them floating out.

Yes. Full tank. It is easier, especially if the leaves are thin and lay over like what @Mmiller2001 mentioned.

I usually siphon off around 3 gallons on my 29 gallon tank.  It drops water from a half inch below frame to maybe 2 inches below the frame.  
 

this level drops the water low enough that I can fit arms in without displacing water above and over…

this, or at most maybe drop the water level an inch or so. you wont want so much water out that the plants all lay over on you.

Agreed with @Pepere. I like to take out just enough so I can get my hands in and move around without overflowing the tank.

I cut stuff back when the tank is mostly full, then do a water change to remove the loose debris.
