BNols
I found 2 of these on the same rock my nerite snails were on. Not entirely sure if they came from it or not. From what I can find online they look like moth/drain fly larvae, but I haven’t noticed seeing any full grown drain flies. I wanted to ask others here what they thought. https://youtube.com/shorts/Bq3ovSiHQQw?si=Kw-LG85wcU33NZPX
Guppysnail
I am going to move this post to general discussion. I do not know what type but it is definitely an insect larvae and did not come from the nerite. @Biotope Biologist ?
Biotope Biologist
Appears that way. Drain fly larvae. These flies are rather small and mostly nocturnal so they can slip by undetected. They are rather indiscriminate about where they lay eggs, hence the name sink flies. A puddle in or under a sink can harbor the larvae, which feed on detritus and other debris. same is true for aquariums especially in cool areas. 1
BNols
Thanks for the confirmation!! I just wanted second opinions, I feel as there isn’t too much of an issue with them. I’ll just get them out as I see them.
