Time to rethink things is over

Recommended Posts

I've been thinking about a lot in the past few weeks & it's time to
come to a conclusion about it so I can come to my final decision
I went to the fish store yesterday & seen the start of my thoughts.

Say what ? After I got my Rainbow shiners & watching them
the past few weeks, that's what made me thinking about another
aquarium, I wrote a post about it, (Time to rethink things).

I have been thinking about getting a 65 gal aquarium to start a
new colony of another breed of fish  just like I have a nice start
with the rainbow shiners, I see them starting to change colors now.

They are so COOL LOOKING that I want to start a colony of W C
minnows
& get them going like I have the rainbow shiners in
the 75 gal, I got some WCM, not long after the rainbow shiners.

I put 6 of them in the tank with the shiners a few days after getting
the shiners. & after watching both breeds awhile, that's what made
my decision for me just by watching them mingle in a 75 gal tank.

It's funny how things like that can happen & something that small
can help with what you have always wanted & get you started in it
without you even knowing till it falls in your lap to make it happen.

So let's talk about what got you into the hobby with your special
fish, what gave you the idea to get in the hobby of raising the
breed or breeds of fish you have? & what do you like about it ?

Thank you for your time & comments, I pray you have great
success with your fish & invite others to join the hobby with
the rest of us & become a great enthusiast in this hobby.

My dad kept a couple 10-gal tanks in the living room when I was growing up. I loved Bettas, and as a kid tried to breed them. I once bought a group of “females,” only to discover that one was a male. I _think_ he was a Betta imbellis, royal blue variety. I knew nothing about wild-type Bettas, and always thought he was just a runt. He matured, looking exactly like this…

None of the hobby strain Betta splendens spawned successfully for me,  but this guy did. I had about two fry survive. All kind of miraculous because I knew nothing. Absolutely nothing 🤣

Life went on, and my kid got me back into fish again. I wrote about that journey here for the Forum anniversary in 2021…

The fish that really hooked us was the German Blue Ram. My son bred them awhile. Eventually I did too. This guy is an example of a fish raised in our water. Zero photo editing. Nothing like him…

That's some awesome photos & story about how you got started & how your
son is in it, & got you back into it that's awesome, my 1st EVER fish tank was
in my mid 30's & went from a 55 gal straight to a pond 8 ft round & 3ft deep
that I had fresh water albino catfish  & Oscars in that was 8" long & I had
set up my pond in the front yard that was an acre in size & the pond area
was in a 30 X 30 area with 2 stock tanks that was over flowing in the pond.

I had a filter system that I had set up myself without internet on studying
anything about building a pond, water chemistry, but you know what ?
no fish died other than 1 of my Oscars got stupid & jumped out. 😢

I've always wanted a another 1 just like that BUT I  got something better
I've been working on my pond at a friends in house for the past 2 yrs &
if nothing goes bad I hope to have it going this year 🤞&🙏is all I got.

When I was real young I had a "boyfriend" who's family kept fish. I started with guppies in a 10 gallon tank when I was about 13. Those guppies quickly became about 50 in that same tank! I've kept fish most of my life since then, with a small break when I had children and then some medical issues. Now I have 5 tanks and enjoy them all. I love my white clouds! They spawn like guppies, I swear. I have about 3 spawns right now in a 20L with 6 adults. I really enjoy the chase & spawn, lol. Then, I have a 10G with a Betta and a snail, another 20L with ember tetras, pygmy cories, and otocinclus, a 29G quarantine tank for Denison Barbs (they will move to a bigger tank soon and some re-homed) and finally, I have a 40B with paleatus cory, bolivian ram, and a betta. I'm still undecided what I want to put in there. I had some ember tetras in there that I moved with the others in the 20L.

white clouds! spawn like guppies? I haven't heard that from anything I have
been watching about them even from other people who raise them, hum ?

Oh well, I have 4 of them in with the rainbow shiners for right now & their
still pretty young yet so I'm glad you told me that so I can be prepared
I'm also glad I've decided to go with a 65 gal tank for them too thank you.

I use to have guppies & that's why I have 5 extra tanks I'm not using &
looking to sell them 3-55gals a 20 gal long  a 30 gal long & when I get
the 65 gal I'll have a reg 30 gal cause I  won't need them anymore.
