Found- a commercial food nerites eat

@JoeQ contacted me to ask if I had ever tried Kats Aquatics calcium food for nerites. They ordered some and then found their nerites would eat it. @JoeQ was kind enough to offer to send me a sample. Thank you.
So far my tiger/red onions absolutely love it. My zebras take nibbles but do not consume it all in one shot but do like it. My black racers don’t even eat veggies and unfortunately also seem to not notice it being there.
Other than veggies I have never found a food to feed that any of my nerites would eat. Great find @JoeQ!

My mystery snails snack on it on the way past but do not pause. My White wizards and Spixii are the same. My piano snails do like it but not as much as my tiger nerites. My tiny terrorists (neocaridina shrimp) also like it in their usual plague of locust style. Fish are indifferent to it. 39139CE1-D46E-4817-A1FE-1B1669CFD2F1.jpeg.02e878fd1abdf3cbffd406ed097aa114.jpeg0A6044D0-1CF2-4B25-B5A0-B3B596CEFCDF.jpeg.6827e4ef7799ba1c3f3ccd6c1a5c3aae.jpeg

I just saw this on the Aquatic Arts site but they were sold out so I purchased the Calcium and nutrition.  Thanks for the review.

It is pricey but to actually see my nerites eat food other than veggies and them being little don’t consume excess quantities I’m going to get some also.

Great news! For my nerites they took a few feedings before they found the food (which had to be strategicly placed), but once they took their first taste  I find them constantly scrounging around the feeding area. But like you I also haven't seen my black racers eat it...... Nor my Assassin snails.  Hopefully the assassins will eat the snail cookies ordered from crayfish empire, and the cookies themselves  won't dissolve as fast as the bug bites pleco sticks which my Assassins love, but sadly, so does everyone else in the tank..... As far as the Kats snail food, its a bit on the expensive side but I don't mind the price seeing that the nerites love it and it will withstand the abuse of the other inhabitants.

I wondered what they add to it that we don't use in homemade snellos but nerites went for this one. So from what I understand, this is the mixture of their three other products.

So that's a bit interesting. I am not sure how I feel about ingredient lists for nerite snails, and they don't contain any type of algae powder or worthy greens, but garlic, wheat and whole egg/egg protein.

Also why would they not go for homemade snello but for these? These snails....😄

I’m going to guess at the egg ingredients. Nerites love diatom and biofilm which are very high protein live and dead.

My one racer just found. Out and eating during daylight!  This never happens. I declare this product a nerite success for my kids  🤩🥳

Congratz on not only your racer eating Kats, but actually seeing your racer! The only time I see the one in my main tank is when my lights turn on, and it is scurrying as fast as it can to get back to its hide out before daybreak!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Mine “hides” under the gravel against the front glass. 🤣

All 3 of mine do this too. My oldest one more often than the other two, but that's actually where they were in the store's tank when I bought them.

My youngest use to always bury itself, but being in a small sandy 10g it was easy to find. Since I moved it to my big tank with eco complete I think it hides in the rocks. The oldest rarely hides, but I haven't see him on any food.

@Guppysnail

Just an update on my order from crayfishempire. The snail cookies were a huge hit with pretty much everyone in my tank. This included Oto, Hillstream loaches,  Cory's, Assassin Snails and even my Nerites got in on the action!

Initial feeding

I was unable to get a picture of the fish on the pile.

@JoeQ I have the lazy pellets from them. I was wondering if the kids would like the cookies. 👍

I got a sample of them which I believe are softer. Im going to try them in my small tank today.

Interestingly, the cookie I put in my small tank did not go over as well. Im wondering if the difference was the cookie in my big tank got softened up by my unruly pack of diamond tetras while the cookie in my small tank are largely still in tack
