I personally like to use peat for black water. It has all the benefits of the tannins we’re tea is more just for color. I use Hoffman 15503 Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss, 10 Quarts https://a.co/d/fuXMNuS stuffed in a panty hoe. There fine so debris does get out. I gave a friend that uses ZeeDix 100 Pcs 30mm Peat Pellets Seed Starter Soil Pods Plugs for Vegetable, Seedling Soil Block Compressed Peat Nutrient Seed Pods for Planting Easy Transplant with 100 Plant Labels & 2 Garden Tools https://a.co/d/boXqDnk in hoes.

What size tank and what filtration are you using?

40 breeder with a 75 gal sponge filter, already have some botanicals and leaves but the tannins are losing concentration just needed to increase some of that black water look!
