Theplatymaster
Because its an aquatic plant, i recently got some elodea from a school that had finished with it as a lab. What do i need to know to grow it? and can i put in in my tank?
Guppysnail
Elodea is considered invasive in many states. It really only need light. It grows like crazy. I don’t even use fertilizer.

Guppysnail
It’s very easy to trim. I love elodea. It is a beautiful lane it just requires trimming which I’m incredibly lazy-obvious by that picture 🤣

Chick-In-Of-TheSea
It’s easy to grow. The only time it did poorly for me is when I tried to plant it. It’s happy as can be floating around. Don’t be afraid to trim and remove some for upkeep. If you want more of it, you can cut stems in half and each half will grow its own roots. Tanked
Mine grows as a floating plant, putting out those long vertical roots . It is supposed to be low light tolerant, but I find that it really likes more light. My pond Elodea resembles the pictures above. In my aquariums, it has a much denser, narrow form resembling a test tube cleaning brush.
