Need if it is Black mold and how to remove it

Hi I have been having a smell in my room I looked at the filter and need to identify if it waste sludge or black mold and it is also occurring in my brothers room

It looks like filter goo to me. The first one is typical build up, the second one is heavy build up. Just rinse them good and you're good to go. Try to not over feed. That is what probably led to the heavy goo poo in the second one.

Ok thank I will get phosphate kit just to double check but one the reasons were worried was because in the one with less muck it was brand new only like 4ish weeks old with snails in it so we needed to make sure it was not something else I will keep this updated until the problem is solved

If you're really concerned with smell you can run carbon.

Snails tend to make it stink.

What you're showing off looks like....
 

You can also look up photos/pictures of people cleaning filter floss. That's the cartridge stuff you're showing in the first photo.
