Lights and Water

My lights get a bit wet from my filters bubbles. I have plants. Should I get a cover? Is it fine? What should I do?

I also wonder, but for the opposite reason. The basic hood that came with my tank has a glass or plastic cover protecting the florescent bulb. But that's going to cut the light output of an already weak light. So I'd like to remove it if possible.

That’s why I’m hesitant myself to cover because I want the full power of the light for my plants

I reduced water lvl can’t really get a top for the fluval light since it would sit on anything that you put on since it’s so low on the aquarium

I'm thinking use a glass cover. It can't be ruined if moisture gets in it like a light and just keep it clean. 

My Fluval Aquaski lays right on top of my glass top.

For longevity I recommend a cover. You also get the benefit of no jumping fish, less evaporation and holding heat in. Over long periods of time I think moisture could affect a fluval flight. For sure it'll affect a finnex light in not much time at all.

 

@AnjumI think you'll just end up buying anew light with no cover after like 4-6 months. So instead I think the path forward is retrofitting it with some DIY type lights or buying an led light to replace it.  You can also line the inside of your light with foil, or foil tape, this would improve it a little bit as well. Also fluorescent lights typically get replaced once a year because they put out quite a bit less light as they live on.

I don't get it? Mine is just a stick with leg things on the end that slide out. You can put them on the little legs but I just lay it flat on the glass.
