Killi Me Softly
Will treating with No Planaria for hydra kill the small colony of blackworms thriving in my neo tank? 20g long, 25 neo, one scarlet badis, some pest snails and a small but healthy colony of blackworms. Unfortunately it most likely will kill your worms and snails. If you reduce powder foods and yeast containing foods as well as live daphnia and baby brine shrimp they will cyst up until those foods are consistently available again. here is a link that will help. Hydra are fascinating creatures and a natural part of an ecosystem. Other than appearance they are not harmful however overpopulation can stress inhabitants.
Killi Me Softly
@GuppysnailThanks, I was afraid of that. I've cut down feeding Bacteria AE and bbs over the last couple of days. Right now I can only see 8 or so hydra, and they are pretty cool looking. I was hoping I could keep them in check without chemical assistance. Covering all bases before I get drastic.
GardenStateGoldfish
If you want to avoid medication, I have heard an old wives tail that pond snails eat hydra. (Not bladder snails, specifically pond snails). I havent personally confirmed it, because I have never had hydra, between the snails I have and the goldfish, I just they cant get a foothold.
