Native Keeper
Hi everyone, especially @Zenzo, since he was interested in this project of mine. I am a huge fan of Speculative Evolution. If you don't know what that is, Speculative Evolution is the science of predicting how a species will evolve in its environment, using other species who share similar environments as references. This can range from predicting how an isolated species of fish will evolve in its environment, to making up an entire evolutionary history for a planet. I stayed on the side of predicting the evolution of an isolated population, specifically I chose Betta splendens, since it was my first fish I ever kept. Here's the link. Let me know what you think! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GdH8q_MpHKmafXDhSXkiZsp62wCL7oNHTABuYPJtsK4/edit?usp=sharing 3

Expectorating_Aubergine
I LOVE spec zoo. It so much fun! There are quite a few really good books out there. Have you checked out the epic of serina? It's on the curious archive youtube channel. One of the many species that evolve in unexpected ways are the fish (sword tails). They have some cool speculation going on there!
AndreaW
@Native Keeper ~ Thanks for sharing! I found it fascinating. One question I have is in any species, would there have been any adaptation to the mouth as their feeding habits changed?
Native Keeper
@AndreaW, I didn't think about that, but for the Bottom dwelling Bettas, likely, moving into a more torpedo shaped head, rather than the mouth turned upward.
