Tianjyang
This is my first ever planted tank, and I just got this plant a week ago. I read that crypt tend to melt when first planted but I’m so nervous this is going to die! Can anyone confirm that this is what normal melt looks like? Beardedbillygoat1975
Yes I see some healthy leaves and some that need trimming. I think the crown of the plant is above the substrate and I’d get in down just a bit. It may take weeks for it to rebound but be patient. 2
Tianjyang
Thank you I am very relieved now! I will add some soil around it, I'm too scared to disturb it now.
lefty o
as long as there is still some green, and the roots havent rotted, it will likely bounce back.
Tianjyang
I will keep my eye on the other three roots!
Patrick_G
I’ll add that some Crypts are slow growers so be patient.
Andy's Fish Den
It looks fine, just get the crown down more to the surface of the substrate. the roots are nice and white, if they turn brown and soft, that's the time to be concerned. If you wanted to hurry the converting process along, you could trim off several of the outer leaves. I do this with most crypts when I buy new ones to help them out converting to submerged growth.
