Redwing RC
I have an established 39G tank with gravel substrate but want to introduce live plants. What are the easiest/best plants to use? Thanks for any advice.

lefty o
just about any plant is fine with gravel for a substrate. if you want an easy no brainer. any of the crypt wentti's. a little shot of easy green or similar now and then, and they will spread like crazy after a while.
WillC
I am finding Tiger Lotus and Red Tiger Lotus really fun to grow out. It's super hardy and dynamic in the tank! Jennifer V
You could start with mosses and epiphyte plants, neither of which need any specific substrate because they are either plopped in the tank or glued to hardscape and see how you do. I feel like most are easy to grow.
Expectorating_Aubergine
Dwarf sag is my stalwart. Pretty much the samething as vallisneria, but not nearly as big.
