Chewyrat77
I have ich in my quarantine tank that showed up on the last day of doing the med trio marinate (all three for 7 days). I've now been treating for ich with ich x per the instructions on the bottle for 5 or 6 days but it's not going away. It goes away on some fish and comes back on others. Just doesn't seem to be going away and I'm sure its ich. Also have salt in the tank. Any suggestions on what else to do?
Struggle
You may need to up the temperature of your tank to speed up the cycle of the ich.

Struggle
Hmmm, is there anything stressing them out? Possibly water quality or anything else.

What's the temp that mollies and platies can handle for a week or so? I might have to crank the temp up from 82 to 86 for a week and just add some more salt. I've used this method before when I had ich in my 125 with African cichlids and it always worked with no meds at all. Thoughts??
Colu
Mollies are fine up to 85 platys.i wouldn't go above 82 if the ich medication isn't working you could be dealing with epistylis can you take a picture of your sick fish

That's a bubble in the pic on wag platy. Another fish has it on the tail though too. From what I just briefly researched on epistylis, I dont think that's what it is. Also, they go away and come back such as an ich cyst dropping off, hatching out and then reattaching wherever. Does epistylis behave this way? Colu
What you can do is use ick x to treat the water and kanaplex in food as a combined treatment when your not sure whether it ich or epistylis
Biff Jabroni
Hi everyone! I just signed up and found this post and now I’m thinking my fish have epistylis too. The story is this: -15 Gallon planted aquarium - light is “moderate” - temp is stable 75F. -My fish are: — 3 endler guppies — 1 golden guppy — 2 julii corydoras — 2 golden zebra loaches — 3 black neon tetras — 1 mystery snail. -On 9/6 I saw white spots on my 3 black neon tetras. On 9/8 I started treatment with ich-x. I removed carbon filter. Only have sponge and bio filter. - it is now 9/17 and since 9/8 I have been doing a proper ich-x treatment: Every 24 hours I drain 1/3 water, add the ich-x. - That is 7 days of treatment with unclear improvement. During that time, it’s been white spots on and off only on the tetras. One day I think it’s cured, next day more spots, but only on the tetras - all other fish have looked fine the entire time. - all fish continue to be energetic and hungry - the white spots do not get worse. I mean they never cover entire fish. Just some spots on body, some spots on fins. It never overwhelms the tetras. But it’s not getting better. - The blue color in the water from the ich-x dissipates after a few hours. See pics. Notice in the last pic the white spot pokes out. Is that ich or epistylis?
