Brymac1
I am in the process of upgrading my 46 gallon reef to a 200 gallon by Pro-Clear Aquatic Systems. I am documenting the process here. This is my current tank: This tank is currently running on an aquatop canister, HOB skimmer and HOB refugium. I am using a 150w maxspect razor for lighting and Jebao wavemakers for flow. The new system will be a 200 gallon system by Pro-clear aquatic systems. The dimensions are 60”x26”x24”. This tank is using the built in sump with, filter socks, Red Sea 600 skimmer and a refugium lit by a kessil H80. I am using a Sicce 5.0 for the return, as well as an aqua clear HOB filter as my carbon reactor. The display is using 3 kessil a360x for lighting and 2 icecap 2k gyres for flow. The cycle on the new tank has already started and as soon as it finishes, I will be moving the coral and rock from the old system into the new system to begin my 36 day fallow period. The current fish will be moved into a separate quarantine system for 6 weeks to eradicate any illness from the main display. ^This is the QT tank I plan on stocking this new tank with the following: 1 yellow tang (already have) 2 ocellaris clowns (already have) 1 six line wrasse (already have) 1 blonde naso tang 1 yellow belly regal tang 1 Caribbean blue tang 1 harlequin tusk 1 niger trigger 1 snowflake eel 5 lyretail anthias I know this is not a saltwater forum so I hope it is okay that I am posting this here. If anyone has any questions just let me know! 10
Streetwise
Thanks for sharing! There are a few current or former marine folks on the forum, including me. It is nice to see the current state of the saltwater hobby, without trying to keep up with an additional forum. I will be following your updates with interest!
eatyourpeas
Beautiful reef! I do not know much about tropical marine systems as mine is coldwater, but would be following your build. 😍
Taco Playz
Love it. I’ve never done Saltwater tanks before but I’d love to learn!
Brymac1
So I was recently able to borrow a PAR meter from a fellow hobbyist. So I made a *really* rough sketch of the tank to record the PAR measurements. I was honestly expecting the three kessils to provide a bit more PAR to the top of the rockscape. I would have liked to have some zones of 200+ PAR for acros in the future. Maybe a T5 hybrid kit is in my future 🤔 Edited August 16, 2021 by Brymac1
Brymac1
Recently added all of the corals to the new tank from my old tank. I also moved the fish to their quarantine tank.

Brymac1
Just built a DIY CO2 degasser that runs in-line with my RO/DI filter. Hopefully now I will get more than 40 gallons out of my DI resin lol.

I run through 4 DI resin stages one anion, one cation and two mixed beds because of the CO2 issue. how does the water line cut off once your reservoir is full or RO/DI as to not overflow the aeration chamber?
Streetwise
I really enjoy spectating the marine tanks that are kept by our planted-tank forum members!

The RO water spills into the DI resin through gravity. It passes through it at a fast enough rate that it does not overflow.
Brymac1
2 month update! Everything is growing and settling in nicely. Alk consumption is dropping an average of 0.2 dKH per day!
Streetwise
That looks awesome! You certainly don’t need different lighting, but have you window-shopped the Neptune Systems SKY? I don’t have the tank for it, but I do have an Apex, so it is cool to see new technologies that integrate with it.

I really like that it is actively cooled which allows it to be much lighter than say the Philips Coral Care. But after seeing numerous tear downs of the SKY I just don’t think it has any business being as expensive as it is. I do believe however that the panel style LED lights like the SKY, Philips Coral Care, and ATI Straton are the future for LED reef tank lighting. Brymac1
Update: Everything is growing and seems happy so far, haven’t run into any major issues yet knock on wood. My RBTA got its bubbles back after losing them 3 years ago so that’s cool. My hepatus tang graduated from QT a few days ago: And here are some more pics I took over the weekend:

Robert
Running currently Branching GSP (not liking life think the stingray is too bright on it), Mini Max anemone, Duncan coral, green toad stool, and assorted mushrooms. Did just update my light from a Finnex 30" stingray to a 24" Fluval Marine 3.0. Also have a Aquatop Marine light showing up too to play with and see if its better or not. Currently I have the 3.0 set on 100% on blue, cyan, and purple. 65% on cold white and pink at 35%. Just hooked that up last night. Tank is a standard 29 gallon aqueon.
