Bettakeeper86
I’m having trouble determining the high range PH. To me it appears to be 7.4, but could also be 7.8. Can someone please help? Edited June 27, 2021 by Bettakeeper86
KBOzzie59
Let's just call it 7.6... 1

Daniel
I'd say closer to 7.6 or even a tad higher. That's a pretty friendly pH. What kind of fish do you have?

tolstoy21
I also have a hard time with the brown and orange range colors on the high Ph test chart. 7.4 through 8.0 certainly look different on the chart, but then I put the vial up to the chart and the liquid looks like it could be any of the colors in that range.
Bettakeeper86
Yes, that’s exactly the problem I was having.
tonyjuliano
I’ve said it before… If you are having trouble interpreting via color matching (many do, including myself) for pH, and accuracy is important in your particular situation, then digital test meters are the way to go. There are relatively inexpensive units available now (sub $30) that give accurate results, not subject to misinterpretation. The important thing is to get one that is able to be calibrated (not all are) and has automatic temperature compensation (again, not all do).
EndlersBoi
I have also found that lighting drastically changes how the liquid tests look. I always look at them as a range rather than exact. So your ph is like 7.4-7.8 which isn’t a bad range for your betta.
