Should I Leave It Alone?

The first photo is from 4 days ago. The second is from today. My AR has melted back and the floor has a lot of diatoms. Should I do anything or is this the normal progression?

I believe that this regular. AR will naturally melt as it is usually grown emersed. If I were you, I'd definetely try to get rid of the diatoms on the sand. Try gravel vaccing to get rid of them, stirring up the substrate will also work.

Yeah I second what @Yanni said, just leave it be.

I remember that you cut these guys in half. I bet it’s the bottom half that’s melting. For me it’s always seems to be the case that the top half has more vigor.

@Patrick_G Yes, the stuff that's left is the bottom part.

The bottom half of my AR pulled through and is sending out two stems at the point where I pruned them.

Hopefully mine does the same. Otherwise, I may have to rip it all out and start over.

Well you might  lose the bottom half but don’t give up on it.
