  1. @xXInkedPhoenixX thanks so much! really helped a lot! right now im taking notes 😅
  2. @xXInkedPhoenixX 80f in c is 26 degrees which is very easily done! i can do the IAL tannins for the antibacterial part. and from what you are saying , would females be calmer? and also if i maybe added 2 or 3 more endler guppies would that help??
  3. After watching "MD fish tanks" latest video , ( https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3uQXzXSPspf2LoGdtYGiHw ) im curious, i have 4 male endler guppys, which will eventually be moved into a 10 gallon.. will a betta fish (or fighter fish) be happy in a 10 gallon (heated: 25 degrees) with 4 male endler guppys as tank mates? the tank will be heated and will be planted. I understand it will be hit or miss with the betta fish, as some betta fish don't like tank mates, and some do.. so please let me know !
  4. so when i finish moving my tanks around (5 gallon into 10 gallon, 10 gallon into a new 20 gallon) i will have a spare 5 gallon tank which i decided i will most likely use for plant growing. im wondering if i can grow plants out of water completely? on a "breathable" (holes in it) rack above water and the tank covered in cling film so that way the water evaporated does not escape and keeps the plants moist and stops vapour escaping.. in the water i will most likely ahve floating plants growing too. will this work? or do plants need to be submerged completely , maybe just some of the roots?? Im not sure if i can pull this off though, as a 15 year old in the middle of exams. but i have faith (this whole thing wont happen till next year, proberably)
  5. otos , i want to say corydoras but im not sure how good of algae eaters they are of they are just bottom dwellers
  6. also you ask how i did it.. the truth is im no expert either i have kept tanks for just a 1 year now, honestly , they bred by themselves, i dont have any technique, infact when i bought them i thought they where all males which i was disproven quickly (because i spotted larvae and smaller snails) . If you are interested on how well they lived, the snails certainlyd dint grow to the adult size, but they did live for 2 months, or close to 2 months , active and seemingly healthy. the snails where called "tiger nerite snails" , and i dont believe i have any photos, but i did used to record the aquarium so i could look back and see if i had any clips of them as babys? but that might take a while if you are willing to wait?
  7. i thought it was pretty common breeding nerites in freshwater??? it just didnt have much luck most the time?
  8. you want me to compare the food on the temperate to tropical?? i can do that
  9. The glue is sold on this website so its ok, but if you are stressed about it just soak the glued ornaments in a seperate container with water 🙂 and about the nerite snails needing brackish water , they do breed in freshwater and lay eggs, however in my experience they have successfully bred in freshwater but not many of the babys had survived, only 3-4 . but like you said the larvae struggle greatly to survive if the water isn't brackish! hope this helps
  10. so on my last post i was advised to get flakes for my endlers. Ive been using flakes for a year for my platys (and minnows) but those are temperate flakes and endlers are tropcial so im wondering if it is ok to feed my tropcial endler guppys "temperate flakes" by tetra if it is ok ill try feeding them to the endlers later
  11. the "little bit of frogbit" will very quickly turn into TOO much frogbit, and will take over your tank, and keep returning even after you think you have removed it all. You could try Salvinia natans instead, they are flaoting plants , a bit more intersting than frogbit (IMO) and they basically double every 2 days. Also if you are using glue, i always say to my friends to use gorilla glue because i cures very fast, but you can use silicone if you want, (both good options) . Also if your concerned about using glue or silicone you can glue everything u need and put it into a different container for a few days (in water) so any toxins that may be in it "leave" (not sure if thats the best word, but i think you will get the point) also for your clean up crew, the nerite snails will do great for spot algae but they will populate pretty fast so you may need to give some away, im sure your local pet store will take them (not sure if they will pay you for them though , unless you have literally hundreds) the otos will do very good for hair algae tho so good choice!
  12. personally, i love live bearers especially endler guppys and platys (maybe because i keep them lol) but i also love groupers and clowns which i will try to keep in the future
  13. @xXInkedPhoenixX Ok! i could try that! see with my endlers they dont eat off the substrate only the rocks and even that is rare for them, but i will try getting them some flakes!
  14. so my endler guppys (4) , that I have had for around 2 and a half months now still dont understand the concept of eating (bit exagerated, but itll do) . I put in some tropical pellets for them but they only get the food if its in their line of sight or if they see it they miss the food, so im wondering how to approach this, i put together 3 options: 1) feeding dish 2) floating tube (to place food in so it doesnt spread) or 3) the food that sticks to glass (o-nip or something) any other options or ideas?? also how many pellets should the guppys be eating? they usually catch around 2? sometimes 1..
  15. @lefty ousually keep them on while im at school (5.30 hours) then turn em off when im home, for the 10 gallon. also i added 5 new plants (tissue and cell plants , vitro) 2 days ago so im on it xd
  16. looks like they are all nice and healthy, if they where stressed i feel they would be trying to get out the tank or be jumping more than swimming around at the speed of light, so id say there isnt much to worry about here.
  17. My 10 gallon has been set up for alomost a whole year now, but it has so much algae growth, and i try to keep ontop of it but i simply cant. i have recently added more plants to the tank and i think because they are small, it will take a while for them to absorb more nutrients than the algae (right?) anyways, any ideas for getting rid of the algae?
  18. So ive been adding plants to my tanks.. im wondering how i should keep them very healthy , growing and alive. do i simply buy specific nutrients? all in one fert?? im not sure. the plants in my first tank are "melting" or "browing" but its still alive. the water quality is fine as i got it tested. ideas?
  19. i honestly dont know, the plants are vitro and they claim , 100% safe from parasites , bio waste blah blah,
  20. I had some replys but they didnt seem to work, as its been over 5 hours now.. The plants where previously left out for the whole night (last night) and over my school time, (13 hours roughly) , then when i came home i tried to get this gel off them, i tried dissolving the el in warm water , i tried rinsing them in buckets , and i tried to use a tissue to whipe the gel off, it just wont go. any more ideas?? (Tissue plants from aquafleur) plant name: Nymphoides , Hydrophylla taiwan
  21. Hey i bought some incubated (tissue and cell) plants from "Shrimp Uk" , nice and healthy plants, but im wondering if the goo stuff that comes with the plants are harmful to snails?? i ask this because there is one plant that this goo is not coming off of. and i have decided to put it into a snail nano tank i have. is this ok? the goo stuff im talking about is stated as "growing media" on the pot Vito plants
  22. Hey so I have a tropical tank currently (40 x 25cm) and for the last 2 and a half months its been set up ive been using packaging foam as the lid , until i figure out what lid i need. The tank has Endler guppies which i found out are jumpers, the hard way , so i do need a lid. Also i dont want to use netting (which i had concidered) because its a heated tank and with the current lid it keeps a warm steady temperature in the water because the air is warmer with the foam lid. (will have the same effect with acrilic or anything solid but i need to put holes in it) My question is , should i use an acrilic sheet as the lid? If so , will this hurt the fish if they jump into the lid? Or are there more lid options i have not concidered?
