  1. I purchased two heaters. One for my 75 gallon and one for my 10 gallon quarantine tank. Both are working great, keeping both tanks at 75 degrees F. I keep my home thermostat at about 70-72. πŸ˜„
  2. I bought these to connect my python to my sink.
  3. Thank you everyone!! Im not going to add them πŸ™‚
  4. Okay so, I have a couple cute bladder snails that eat all the dead leaves...at least Ive only ever seen them eating dead ones. Question...today I went to the fish store and picked up some Guppies. Two snails were caught in the process, the gentleman said they would eat my plants. I want to double check before I drop them in my tank. I also have two mystery snails. Would they or my bladder snails be harmed by these new hitchhikers?
  5. Thank you! I used some poly floss in my HOB filter and Fritz Clarifier.
  6. Update on my water/tank. Tank is still clear. I added 7 corys that a local gentleman gifted to me. All are doing wonderful. My tank has cycled nicely...Im looking forward to my plants growing up πŸ™‚ As per suggestion I did get my water tested at my local well company, Ill add a picture to the info they gave me. No filters on my tap, its straight from the well. Also a couple pics of my tiny little corys and a snail that hitchhiked in. 😁
  7. Thank you all for the ideas. What I did to achieve a clear tank...I added a HOB filter and doused the tank with a bit of Fritz clarifier. My well guy is testing the water for me free of charge. Thanks again!!! ** the big scratches is just a piece of plexi attached to my reclaimed work desk πŸ˜„ **
  8. I just called my well guy to get a test done, ty for that recommendation. 😁
  9. @Torreythank you. I am in the process of researching all these ideas. I will start simple with the HOB and go from there. My water probably does need tested again, its been a bit since I had it done. My neighbor decided to clear cut his land, which caused my water to be extra cloudy. Theres an underground stream that runs near it.....I will assume the trees helped it stay a lot cleaner.
  10. Its my first tank in the house, with this water. Sadly, this is just my water. If I leave it in a container long enough it collects a decent amount of yellowish/orange sediment at the bottom. Heres an example. This water in this jar is maybe a month or so old. It was filled in case the power went out to water the dog and it was forgotten. You can see the yellow at the bottom, its a layer of dirt? lol
  11. @Widgetsgreat ideas. I will look into an inline filter, seems like it could be a great first line of defense from the dreaded particles πŸ˜‚
  12. @Minanora ty! I added the clarifier to my poly floss order.
  13. With the looks of my tank, Im pretty sure Ill be buying it often πŸ˜…
  14. @Guppysnail thank you! I just ordered a HOB, Im going to add a bag of the poly floss as well. πŸ˜„
  15. @ndfi78Yea, surprisingly they did an okay job, yesterday I couldnt see thru it at all...hence why my plants are just stuck here and there πŸ˜‚
  16. Hi guys! So I have a bit of an issue. Cloudy water, as you can see. This was filled yesterday, its clean water, no animals...brand new tank. My problem is that Im on a non-filtered well and my water is ALWAYS like this. Its safe for consumption, my parrots, goats, dogs and myself drink it and its been tested for contaminates. Its basically super fine reddish clay. ATM I have two large sponge filters going.....do you guys think a back hanging filter would finish cleaning out the finer particles? Thanks!!! πŸ˜„
  17. Hello from WA state! I am not new to fish keeping, but its my first time setting up an aquarium from scratch....with LIVE plants! My dad and I shared the hobby as I grew up. He set me up a 125 gallon in my room that was my responsibility. I raised all types of fish. Oscars, plecos, silver arowana, kissing gourami, different types of large cichlids and catfish ect ect..... This time around Im deciding what type of smaller fish to raise. Maybe guppies? I used to breed Kribensis (not on purpose) and trade them in for store credits. *Not for profit, just for fun* My new tank is 75 gallon, fresh water πŸ™‚
  18. It was the air bubbles....thx again for the quick responses!! πŸ™‚
  19. Thanks guys! Cory...I thought that might be it, I did give it a squeeze....but theres still a lot of bubbles, like you said. Ill give it some time to settle down and check back in. πŸ˜„
  20. When I first put them in they sank. Air tubes allow them to hit the bottom. They do feel like they have some weight to them. I have two, both floating.
  21. Im pretty sure I have everything attached correctly. Air stone inside with short tube, my airline is just long enough to have a bit of a U shape. My air pumps are on top.
  22. Hi guys! I just installed two sponge filters and they are both floating. Is there a tip to prevent this? Or should I just weight them down with rocks? I watched the video on sponge filters already. I bought the co-op brand....my tubes are short....just like the video. TY πŸ™‚ **my first time using sponge filters**
