    Oscar wounds

Good call on separating them. If I recall correctly from a podcast a while back, Zenzo got his Oscar that was tormented by a Red Devil from a client. I remember him saying it had some wounds and it eventually went home with him after discovering the Red Devil was the culprit, but I wonder if @Zenzohas any advice for the wound and steps going forward. Sorry to tag you Zenzo I just know you have dealt with this.

  3. @Pennythis blew my mind!!! Will be trying it out next water change!! Thank you so much for sharing.
  4. @nabokovfan87 the main ones I am concerned about are my dwarf sag, dwarf baby tears, and pogo. Also, not looking to get one for algae removal even though it would be appreciated, but simply because I would like to have one in the tank.
  5. Hello all! I am in the market for an algae eater. I am leaning towards the three listed in the title or perhaps something else. I am not looking for something to combat algae just feel one of these guys is missing in my setup. I currently have a 20-gallon tall that is heavily planted with Dwarf Sag, dwarf baby tears, and pogo. - I use a CoOp 20-gallon sponge filter - keep the temp at 76-78 - Have slightly harder water I have endlers and red cherry shrimp that are thriving and breeding to no end. So much so that I am going to have to drop a bunch off at the LFS soon. 😔😆 I would either want a single Pleco or a small school of the other guys. I like the BN Pleco, but I am worried he would uproot plants. Also, would a 20-gallon be ok? I love the panda Garra, but from what I have read they like high currents and I wonder if a sponge filter would be enough And even though the Oto is a classic, I am on the fence because of the other two species. Which one would you suggest?
  6. Hello, I recently placed a small amount of Christmas Moss on my driftwood. I am noticing some growth, but my question is will it eventually take over the entire piece of wood or do I need to get more?
  7. I really love the new Podcast that have been posted lately. They seem to be short and sweet, to the point and the Q&A seems to be sticking more to the topic whereas in the past it would kinda go every direction after the discussion. I know that is the purpose of Q&A and I am by no means being critical, but I wonder if these podcast would be more effective to the audience if the questions from the members were somehow tagged according to the topic and that only to be discussed? Could Cory and the crew poll the members, everyone vote for a topic and then submit questions according to that topic? Could there be a surprise free for all Q&A once a month for the ones who do enjoy that way? What are your thoughts?
  8. Thank you all! Should I get a few to start out with or will one get me where I am wanting to go over time? Don’t need super fast results, but wouldn’t mind it being pretty full from left to right and at least halfway from the top in a month or two.
  9. Hello all! I am wanting to get a new background plant that is pretty lush and easy to grow that can do well with medium to high light, no co2, and easy green and root tabs. Out of the two plants listed, which ones would be easier to grow? I have a bout 8 hours of light going on each day on a timer, 78 degrees temp, and slightly harder water. Trimming won’t be a problem I just want something that is going to blow up with growth and take over my background. If you had to recommend one which would it be?
  10. Hello all! I recently introduced some Christmas moss to my aquarium and snail breeding box. This morning when I went to feed the tank, I noticed that in my breeding box there were these tiny little things moving around on the plastic. They aren’t round (almost rice like) not jumping around are super fast and tiny. There’s a few wormlike things in the mix too. The worms are moving around like inchworms. Should I be alarmed? I don’t mind hitchhikers if they are harmless, but would like to know what I have going on here. Thank you so much for your time.
  11. Thank you both! @Tihshho Yes, Red Cherry Shrimp. Do you have a link to the Denerle Shrimp Calcium you use? Is that the one labeled as Mineral or Complete?
  12. Hello all! I am looking for a new way to add calcium for my RCS. I have used wonder shells, but I hate how they look. The RCS strive while I use them, but if I miss a couple of months they start having molting issues. Once I drop a shell in they are fine and start molting like crazy. Awhile back I saw that Lucas Bretz used eggshells for his Neo’s and figured I might ask for additional feedback. Have you ever tried this? Does it work? If so how much and how often?
  13. Hello all! I am looking for a fish (maybe 3-6 inches) to pretty much live solo with a bunch of RCS in a heavy planted 20 gallon tank. I would like something nice to look at, peaceful and won’t eat my plants and shrimps. I thought about a Betta, but I hear it can be 50/50 when it comes to the shrimp. Do you you have any suggestions?
  14. Hello all! I have a pretty heavy planted tank and some sick Endler fry (not ick, but larger white discoloration on sides and a few with a spot on their mouths/fins). I am looking to treat with Fritz A+ aquarium salt. Have you had any good results using salt? Aquarium Coop’s website mentions “Aquarium plants generally do not well with salt (or sodium chloride), but a concentration of 1 tablespoon of aquarium salt per 5 gallons of water is generally considered to be safe.” I have seen a lot of mixed reactions regarding this and wanted to see if any one has had any good experiences/benefits. Tank: 20 gallon fish: 5 endlers plus 10 fry, cherry shrimp, 1 nerite and bladder snails plants: Amazon sword, Java fern, dwarf sag, val, dwarf baby tears, mermaid weed, red root floaters
  15. I culled this leaf (pic 1) off another plant and it had it too. After looking at it closer it looks pretty natural and reminds me of some ferns that grow on land (pic 2). Maybe that’s what it is. Idk. I’ve only been able to find it on a few of my younger plants.
  16. Thank you both! It’s definitely unique. I have other mature ferns that have produced new JF and I have seen the roots developed as described, but not like this.
  17. Hello, all! This is a young Java Fern that is about a month old. I just noticed the growth circled in below picture on the midrib of a couple of the leaves. Are these roots developing or am I paranoid in thinking that BBA is growing in a uniform fashion up these leaves? I have some larger JF’s and they don’t have growth like these do.
  18. Thanks! What NPK source do you recommend?
  19. Seachem Flourish - 32 drops in my 20 gallon
  20. Hello! I purchased about 15 dwarf sag a month ago and have started noticing that a lot the original sag has a yellow leaf or two. They have just about doubled and the runners are coming up super green with no signs of yellow and all the other plants in the aquarium are doing well. I just placed some root tabs in about two weeks ago and add liquid fertilizer twice a week. I run co2 and keep the lights going for 8 hours a day. Is this just the older plant dying back some or is there a deficiency somewhere?
  21. @PineSong thank you so much! I enjoyed the video. I am super excited to see what types I may get. 😀
  22. That one guy who was sad that snail hitchhikers didn’t come in on his plants 🐌🪴 😂
  23. Hello! This is my first time posting here 😊 My female endlers have been breeding with several different males of various colors and patterns here lately. I know females can hold sperm from males for so long, but in one drop can a female give birth to fry from several different males? My females are pretty pregnant right now and I am wondering if I will see fry of all sorts of colors and patterns or a “yep, he’s the dad” type deal lol. Does anyone have experience with this? Thank you so much.
