Just added the third treatment, it appears to be safe for pest snails.

I have a half filled 10 gallon for crayfish. There's a rock in it that sticks out of the water about an inch. Any plant suggestions that I can put on the rock that'll grow out of water? I have octopus plant going gangbusters in the water, but thought it might look cool to have something growing out of the tank.

Dead fish in the tank this morning. When I removed it there was a leech attached and another one broke off and went into the substrate. So, the loaches haven't eliminated them. Considering treating the tank with copper. The leeches are really gross and I'm not enjoying this tank because I'm thinking about my fish getting slowly killed by leeches. I'm really surprised the only 2 solutions were do nothing, or completely break the tank down.

My Endlers kill shrimp for fun. They don't eat them after, they just peck at the shrimp until they are dead. Tons of plants for shrimp to hide in, but the enders seek them out, it's like a game to them.

My first guppy tank

I don't do anything for my Endler fry. They eat the scraps of what the adults rip up. -

Dwarf Crayfish, frost, outdoor tubs, an emergency vase
Allan replied to Allan's topic in General Discussion
The first fill and first two 50% water changes were tank water. Then I switched to tap water for changes 3 and 4 since the nitrites were so high. They seem content in there, they go eat when I put food in and otherwise just hang out. I saw to keep them in 65-80° water so I’m not comfortable keeping them outside in 25°.- 5 replies

All right, exciting times here. Spring was starting off really warm here in Illinois so I set up my tub outside and ordered some Brazos dwarf crayfish (cambarellus texanus). They come and the temps drop back to 30 degrees at night. Which I should have expected but I was excited. Now, my guppies murder shrimp for fun so I can't put them in the same tank and my other tank has kuhli loaches and since the guppies murder shrimp I'm not even going to try with the loaches. Enter the 1 gallon flower vase hotel. I put some plants in the vase and noticed a smell, testing with coop strips the Nitrites are easily at 10. How many back to back 50% water changes should I do? I did 2 yesterday and it came down a little, then another this morning. My concern is changing too much too fast and putting them in shock before they get to their home, but also I don't want them poisoned.

I think the loaches must’ve eaten the leaches. Haven’t seen any in a long time.

My tub froze and cracked too. I was keeping it full since the dogs liked to lick the ice. Wish I thought to upsize my replacement!

Based on the COOP videos, you should cover the filter intake. I just use sponge filters, so I can't say from experience if Endler fry can get away from the suction.

I don't do anything different. The fry seem to survive off the shreds the adults leave behind. I probably have 300 endlers in my 20 gallon. 200 fry and 100 adults. I feed 1.5 algae wafers, 5 crab cuisine pellets, and 2 brine cubes once a day.
-
Did you do anything to get rid of them?
-
I wonder how it got in. It’s not like it came from the algae wafers.
-
It was just mulm or sediment from moving things around.

https://photos.app.goo.gl/txPcZGjhc9YS6m2D9 is this really a leech in my tank? Should I do anything about it? It got away before I could grab it with tweezers. Tank has Kuhli loaches, Pygmy Cory and pest snails.

A little raised. I read the salt comparison. It’s not sea salt sized but bigger than table salt.

Thanks, I’ll wait on it and try for a better picture.

Black Kuhli Loach in the picture. Is this ich? Will API Fin & Body Cure treat ich, and if so, will it harm plants?

Jungle Val melts generally struggles
Allan replied to Allan's topic in Plants, Algae, and Fertilizers
I have a hair algea thing going on. I guess it makes sense as that takes off the val will die back. Can't seem to beat the algea though. One tank only has light 4hrs a day and it's still going strong. -
Jungle Val melts generally struggles

Oh I forgot, I do use root tabs. Was using coop ones, I switched to API to see if they would work. No improvement -
20 gallon tank with guppies, pest snails, pleco and golden algae eater. No heater Nitrates kept around 50 with easy green Nitrite 0 Hardness 300+ Buffer 300+ Ph 8.4+ no chlorine, I’m on well water with a water softener. jungle Val is really spread out, every once in a while it grows to the top of the tank then melts back down. Light is on 8 hours. I have a 10 gallon that melts any Val I try to transfer over. What else can I test for?
