  1. I asked ACO through an email a few weeks ago and they said they use the tubing on all their co2 systems. I've been using mine since then and haven't had any blowouts etc.
  2. I'm using the ACO powerhead (love it!) to spread co2 throughout the tank. My question is if anyone has used a controller for it to slow down the speed? I have a speed controller in the garage that is old but still works. Wasn't sure if I should get one specifically for wavemakers of if the one I own would work. My other option was to use a higher ppi sponge filter for it but I don't want to physically restrict the motor. Any help would be great Thanks
  3. 8 mile is one of our favorite movies. Just realized it was on HBO max. Might be watching it for a few days.
  4. My first fish was a small bass when I caught when I was 12 lol. We had two oscars bur both succumbed to swim bladder issues. They were probably 9"-10" long, we used to buy frozen shrimp and cut them up to feed them lol.
  5. Was going through some old pictures and figured I'd post some pics of Oscar de la Renta from 2015 Got him in 2008 and definitely got bigger than we expected lol Edit: forgot his friend Patrick Dempsey (we're still racing fans)
  6. I have three of them and never had a rattle. Is it leveled on the tank with the adjustment screw? Is the basket fully set in the clips? Can't think of anything else other than what @AndEEss said and just put a band over it or put a food canister on the top.
  7. damn sorry I forgot to include that. I have 8 hrs total with 30 mins intro and 30 mins out. I can try cutting it down to 6 hours for several weeks to see if that helps
  8. Thanks for the reply. I'm currently running 50% with no blue light on a fluval 3.0. I do occasionally get sunlight from the window about 15 feet away in the winter when the sun gets low. Edit: forgot to add the tank is 12" deep with about an 1.5" of substrate
  9. Ended up getting a massive diatom outbreak I noticed it a little a few weeks ago and it has got out of control since then. I have a phosphate test kit coming Friday but I'm not sure what to do in the meantime. Been doing water changes and cleaning as much as I can off before the water change and vacuuming it up. I see Otocinclus is great for this, obviously I have to test first but its nuts, I'll clean a lot of it and its back to the same level a few days later. Tank is only two months old but this is insane lol.
  10. They are fantastic. I'm hoping to get around 50 in the tank at some point in the future.
  11. These are going to be going into the 44g lowboy. I'm going to try to do several quarantines over 6 months or so to get the stocking level I want. But this is the first batch. I'll try to get more pictures but its cloudy this morning and don't have a light for this tank.
  12. Fish are here. Thank god my gf came home from work early. USPS said it was still in transit from the other facility to the local post office, so I have no idea of when it was left in the mailbox today. Opened the box and wow that water was cold. Had one swimming upside-down for a bit but its swimming fine now in the drip bucket I have.
  13. To fix it you just have to wait. Last time I put a new diffuser in it took about a day to full saturate. I've never really been sure about sizes of diffusers. I have a medium on my 20 gallon and a medium on my 44 gallon and they both do fine. I don't think the size would matter its more about how much you're pushing into the tank and how well its diffusing.
  14. ahh ok. So what I'm thinking is that the disk isn't fully saturated so the bubbles might be getting trapped down there. This is mine running 1bps as well
  15. How long has the co2 been going? It takes a bit to fully saturate the disk. The flow looks about right for 1bps but I don't have the multiple bubbles stacked up inside the diffuser like in your picture. I'm not sure what would cause that.
  16. @Guppysnail Thanks for the reply and yes the more i've been reading it does seem the right way is to let them chill and watch and medicate as needed. I just hope the heat pack has held up from the west coast after 4 days. Its definitely been well below normal temps. Edit: I've actually never thought about your comment on coop being a business as opposed to hobbyists that have plenty of time.
  17. @Torrey lol I've been watching all of coreys quarantine videos all week. I'm hoping the fish come today, it says they are still at a usps facility 40 miles south but saying estimated delivery today.
  18. @Gabe P. I use the aco nano air pumps, they work great. I honestly don't notice any flow difference between the nano pumps and my old hydrofarm 125 active aqua pumps.
  19. @Chad Thanks for the reply, I was sifting through ideas and though about what you just said. Maybe I should just wait a bit and see if anything pops up and in the meantime just feed and watch regularly.
  20. Ok so I did a bit more research trying to see if I can use the Kanaplex with the fritz paracleanse. According to the seachem website Kanaplex and Metroplex can be used in conjunction. I looked at the ingredients of Metroplex ( metronidazole (70%) ) and Fritz ParaCleanse ( 250 mg metronidazole and 75 mg praziquantel ) I can't find if praziquantel can be used with kanamycin sulfate which is the active ingredient in Kanaplex.
  21. @Mmiller2001 Thanks for the quick reply. I already have the trio here at home but was able to order focus and will be here tomorrow. That totally makes sense to bind the meds with food. I do have xtreme nano food so that should be small enough for the new fish. I'll look up into mixing it with the focus. Edit: was able to get Kanaplex delivered tomorrow as well
  22. I ordered 10 harlequin rasboras from aqua huna and just got the notification they were shipped last night and delivery is saying Friday. I want to try Cory's trio method he talked about in several videos. My question is if the package gets here Friday, that would mean the fish have been sitting unfed for 4 days. In the videos Cory states to feed them lightly on day 3/4 if necessary. So if they have been unfed for 4 days and then I add another 3-4 days on top of that will that be ok for the fish. I do have a fully cycled sponge filter but not sure if the meds might kill the bb. If I do notice an ammonia spike I obviously don't want to do a water change that would dilute the meds. So would it be ok to either add prime or stick another seeded sponge filter in there? Its funny that they fish literally just shipped last night and I'm asking this but I always like to be prepared for the worst case scenario that way I can quickly attend to what is going on.
  23. I would say so. I have a co2 diffuser under a aquaclear 50 and it does fine spreading it around from just the downdraft of the outflow.
