  1. I really like the val, but I haven't had a whole lot of luck with it in the past. Thank you for the suggestion! I think I'll give this a try. This is what I initially had in mind when I decided against the val. Thank you for the suggestion!
  2. I just set the hardscape up on this 10 gallon tank. I'd like to do a Vallisneria type of plant across the back behind the rocks, but not sure of the height. What would be a rooted plant like Vallisneria or what variety of Vallisneria do I need to get so that it doesn't get so tall that it gets so long that it blocks the light? I plan to stock with mollies and/or guppies.
  3. Magic Eraser works really good on cleaning these. White vinegar like the others have said for stubborn stains.
  4. Cichlids are accustomed to a rocky environment and are very territorial. Any line of sight breaks that you can make will help keep peace in the tank. Also, they like caves or any other nooks and crannies you can make for them. I have the Carib Sea African Cichlid mix for my substrate and my PH and Alkalinity are always spot on perfect!
  5. I've had mine set up for over two years and have never had to vacuum underneath the plates. That aquarium with the UGF has the clearest water of the 3 aquariums that I have. When I tear the others down and redo them, I'll go with UGF for those too. I've had nothing but trouble out of the hang on filters on the other tanks.
  6. I always use white vinegar to clean tanks. Rinse really well and set it back up.
  7. That's what I thought. I've never had Cichlids, just wanted to make sure. Thank you!
  8. I'm going to be setting up a new tank for Cichlids, which I've never had. Can I take the filter material out my HOB from my regular community tank and put it in the new HOB of the new tank for the good bacteria? I know the PH levels are different for Cichlids, but I just wanted to make sure I am transferring the correct beneficial bacteria.
