  1. I usually feed mine twice a day, two of extreme nano pellets, krill flakes or bug bites, 5 days a week.  Then Saturday they get one of the above in the morning and then live bbs in the evening.  Sunday all but the molly fry fast.  My pleco baby gets green beans about every other day and an algae wafer sometimes.  The adult mollies get green beans too but not as often.

I would just keep the population down on the snails. Like when you see an explosion from the snails go in and take a bunch out. Or you could take all the snails out, just make sure you don't overfeed your shrimp. For green spot algae I would use nerite snails, they do a pretty good job of cleaning it up.

I agree, nerites are great algae eaters and do not reproduce.

  3. What filter is the pump running?  If a sponge filter, then a coop nano air pump will work.  I use one on a medium sponge filter in my 29 g.  It is by far the quietest pump I have ever used.

I have purchased more than my share of $1 per gallon sale aquariums over the years which means I have a lot of Aqueon aquariums. None of mine have ever failed or leaked.

I too like @Daniel have purchased many aqueon tanks, none have leaked either.

  5. Definitely use a check valve, the first air pump I set up a year ago did not have one and the pump fried the first time I hooked it up.  I guess I had no idea water ran downhill.  Put check valves on all of your air pumps in my opinion.  It’s cheap insurance.

  6. @Karen B. I found a dead ramshorn snail this morning, it’s disheartening, but part of fish keeping.   The fist time I ordered horned nerites, I got 3 and two died very soon.  The one that survived is still kicking and a very happy snail.  Snails are funny, they seem to live forever or die very soon.  I have neon tetras and I have very hard water and high PH.  They have thrived and look beautiful  for about 6 months.  I keep my numbers up to 20-25 of them and that seems to really make them happy.  Don’t be afraid to try green neons and have fun!
