Are you worried about being a molly or that it’s a different color molly
I figured it was a molly, but it doesn't appear to be the same gold dust molly. I got them from a petco so it could very well be a different kind of molly.

I bought some gold dust mollies and there was a baby fry in the tank with them. I assumed it to be a gold dust fry but it doesn't show the yellow color. Is this a gold dust molly or something else? Hopefully the video shows it enough .

I am in the process of setting up a new planted tank. I will be buying quite a few plants and was maybe wanting to break it up in a few orders so I don't have to spend the money all at once. This may be a stupid question, but can I let the plants (with the pot) sit in my established aquarium while I wait till I have them all bought? How long would they last like this?

@Alec May I ask you where did you get a replacement? I NEED one.. and didn't even know they made replacement hinges for glass tops...
Thank you 🙂

This is where I got mine. I had a custom lid that was 3/16in.

I have a replacement hinge for a glass top and I'm having trouble sliding it on. Does anyone have any suggestions to get it to slide on easier?

THIS IS NOT MY PICTURE. THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE OF THE INTERNET.
I keep having issues with stem plants rotting off at the bottom. In the image below you can see what I'm talking about. The stem gets real stringy until if breaks off. On my bacopa plant, it has new growth up top, but the stem seems to be rotting. What is causing this?

@Zenzo Thank you! I will have to look into that.

I apologize in advance for the long post
Previously, I have used a 2.5 gallon aquarium as my quarantine tank. I would prefer to have a 10 gallon for this, but due to size restrictions, this is what I have. Additionally, anytime I have had a fish with disease, they never make it in 2.5 tank. I dose accordingly, but they still die.
1. Does the size of the tank have anything to do with this? Or is it just the disease that overcomes them?
I did recently buy a 5.5 gallon tank as I have a spot under a new aquarium to put it. Originally, I was going to use this as my new quarantine tank. I have a muck bucket tub that I have 4 gold dust mollies in that I am trying to breed. I also got a fry from the store I bought them from. The fry is currently living in the tub with the other 4 fish and is doing great.
2. Should I provide a grow out tank or will the fry (and future fry) be okay in the tub)?
3. If I were to provide a grow out tank until they are big enough to sell, which tank should I use? The 2.5 or 5.5? On the contrary, which tank would be best for a quarantine tank? The 2.5 or 5.5?
Ideally I would like to have both of these tanks be 10 gallons, but I don't have the room for two 10 gallon tanks.

Thanks everyone. I used the hot water method and it seemed to do the trick!

So I am in the process of setting up a 26 gallon bow front. This tank is a little tall so I'd like fish in all levels. I was thinking of:
6- silver hatchet fish
6- rummy nose tetras
6- pygmy Cory's
1- dwarf gourami
And once the tank get established, some snails and maybe some shrimp.
What should I add first? Second? Etc?

I had the same issue, I tried flushing it out but it didn’t work. They did give me a new pump and I haven’t had trouble with the new one.
Yeah. They have sent one replacement already and this one is doing the same. I hate to have them send a new one. I'll try cleaning it before I talk to them. If it comes to it I will offer to buy something and they can throw it into the order so they aren't out the shipping.

My easy green pump is not squirting the chemical like it should. The co op has already sent me a replacement pump and I don't want them to have to send another. Have any of you had luck maybe trying to clean it or get it working again?

How many nitrates does your tank produce per week?
I am not compeltly sure.
On 11/2/2021 at 6:01 PM, Kevin F. said:It really depends on your tank. Would be a lot easier to give advice on it will full tank stats (size, fish load, light duration, substrate, water parameters). Saying that there is a huge debate over water change schedules some say once a week some say once a month some say what's a water change. I do a weekly 30% water changes on my planted tank. It is over stocked and plants are still trying to fill in. My Nitrates never get over 25 ppm. It is working for me but as the tank changes my water change schedule might have to change with it.
20 gallon
8 neon tetras
2 black neons
2 glo tetras
1 bristnose pleco
Mystery snail
Amano and cherry shrimp
6hrs
Eco complete
Not sure on most recent numbers. Generally ammonia and nitrites are 0. Ph is usually about 7.6. Kh and gh are higher.

I'm want to get more on a schedule of doing water Changes. The water change guide by the co op says change 30% @40ppm Nitrates. The test strips say @100ppm to change water. What should I use? This is a planted tank. Working on growing plants to full growth.

I've thought about starting to breed bettas. My local fish store said they would be interested if I could do it. I've been doing a bit of research and one article mentioned I should not breed bettas from pet stores as they are normally inbred and severely diseased.
Has anyone here bred bettas from pet stores such as pet co? Or even their local store?
Also let me know what you have for your set ups and share some photos. Share your experiences or any tips.

I have a 20 gallon with:
8 or 10 neons (I can't remember the exact number)
2 black neons
2 glo tetras
1 bristlenose pleco
The neons seem to always be hiding towards the bottom, except for feeding time. Could this be because the lack of plant coverage?
The pogo use to over run the tank until it melted back after I had the lights off to control and algae issue.

That's what I was thinking. I was hoping I'd still have some room after I add bracing and shelf to put a 5.5 gallon under.

I just got a 26 gallon bow front tank and stand combo from an old neighbor. The tank was made in 2005, so I assume the stand is just as old. I just resealed the tank. I was thinking about screwing in some 2×4s on the inside of the stand to help stabilize it a little more.
Do you guys think this will work to stabilize it more or should I leave it be?
-
@s1_ so you were able to do an entire 125 with one tube? I have a small 26 gallon bow, one should be enough?
What is this fry?

He's the only one. I actually bought him when I got the full grown Molly's. He's been I. There for weeks with them. Too big to eat. I do have some hornwort and duck week. Would like to get some guppy grass.
