  1. I personally would run two of the large one at each end. But it really depends on your stocking.  Say for instance you only have half a dozen guppys and a dwarf pleco and for that chances are you could get away with a smaller sponge. The more fish the more filtration. If its a 55 gallon just for a single betta well I'd say I would run nothing but an airstone and fill it full of plants

What's the best Hang On the Back filter or filter brand  for a 30 gallon

aquaclear seems to get alot of attention, If it was me I always go a tad bigger. So if your tank is 30 Gallon I'd get a hob that will handle 50 to 60G

  2. Can some ease explain why the buce species are so hard to grow? I keep reading on how hard they are and love gow they look but im a bit intimidated from what ive seen. Anyone have any luck with them?  I use Remineralized RODI with co2  so Id think I have a good shot at keeping them?

  3. Ive had this what I think is an Algae develop over time on my sponge filter in my Taiwan Bee tank. Im not really looking to get rid of just wanting to identify it. Curious if anyone has seen this before and if I should be removing it?  One thing I do know is its extremely slow growing. All my critters seem to enjoy it.

  4. Lucas Bretts AKA the mad scientist has bunches of video's on in on Youtube.  I currently have a 20 Gallon bucket I put about 2"of pebbles in the bottom and an airstone filled it with water lettuce and let that churn for about 3 months with a light on a timer and than started pulling guppies out in trios of one of my tanks and I personally waited about a month inbetween adding more but as of now I"ve got probably 30 guppies with nothing but an airstone, and a heater (its in my basement which in the winter months stays around 55 to 60*)  other than that its all natural. I have had some die off but i'm convinced they are from natural causes seeing how it was very spiritic.  Hope this helps

  5. @Mmiller2001 I'd have to look what's in the All in one thrive I use.  I wasn't having the results I wanted from Easy green so I switched too thrive even then I found out it wasn't the ferts that was causing me issues it was my dosing routine and lighting schedule.  I had this issue once before and once I changed my lighting routine and co2 it died off on its own pretty much,   I"m really very novice when it comes to a planted tank. I've only been keeping plants in a tank for the last year or so and for the most part have been fairly successful besides the occasional outbreak like so.  Its very challenging for sure atleast to me.

  6. @Mmiller2001 not sure what K or FE is?  I use FLuval stratum for a substrate I use strive at one squirt daily and probably 3bps on my co2 with 30 to 50% water changes. I dont add anything else.I use RODI water for all my tanks and remineralize with a gh kh booster too a tds of close to 200.  I live in the country and our well water is ran into the house and directly into the water softener so i'm not sure whats in it and just decided to use RODI for all my tanks.

  7. Its funny you brought this video up cause he did this series on my tank about 6 months ago and what we did worked but this time its different. I wasnt seeing the whole leaf get covered last time and Ive already done everything we did before and its not working it seems to actually be getting worse.  I already reached out to Bentley but hes a busy fella so I thought Id get some insight on the forums

  8. Ive been fighting what I believe to be Staghorn algae.  I've been spot treating with the ACC  Easy Carb everyday to every other day and I don't feel as if I'm winning.  Is it stag horn or is it something else.  Ill give a short description of my setup.

Fluval 3.0,  I use RODI remineralized using A GH/KH booster

Strict water change routine at 30 to 50% every week

    Pressurized co2 probably 3bps

    75g

I've I've got an FX6 running on it along with a Ziss filter. The fx6 is only on here to seed the filter it eill end up on the 120g Im setting up once room is made
