Welcome to the club, Buckeye! What size tank are you planning?

@Seattle_Aquarist is correct that the original Osmocote contained just N,P,K. However Osmocote PLUS contains most of the micro-nutrients. Be aware that the PLUS version contains copper and approximately 60% of the nitrogen is ammoniacal (meaning if you put in too many capsules or if the capsules work their way to the surface you could get an ammonia spike).

@drawnitsud your settings are virtually the same as mine with the exception of your nighttime blue. I have been using @Streetwise's duel siesta settings for 2 weeks and I am seeing a definite improvement. New crypt leaves are no longer covered with 2 mm of hair algae and my stem plants are still green and showing new growth. Your 29 G is likely an inch or two taller than my 20 G but I think these settings will work for you. I'm getting a little algae on the glass so I may need to back down a few percent on my peak intensities.
As far as a lid goes I am been using a glass Versa top. It stops the jumpers and decreases evaporation but the one inch wide black hinge strip limits where you can place the light..

Thanks @Mitch_ScruffyCityAquatics, let your Nashville buddy know I'd definitely be interested in a Middle Tennessee aquatics group.

Thanks @DaveO, you are right, there are some Middle Tennessee folks starting to show up!

Glad to have you onboard. We Middle Tennessee residents need to support one another!

Welcome @A3MON, good to hear another Middle Tennessee fish keeper is in the region. I'm south of Nashville inside the I-840 loop. We may be developing the critical mass for a club someday.

Your Java Fern may be struggling but the val?/sag? in the background looks fantastic! TeeJay's suggestion of more potassium sounds like a good first move.

Many thanks to Streetwise et al for starting this thread and keeping it alive for 2 years. I have learned a great deal here and from Bentley's videos. My tank is a standard 20 G , non-CO2, with inert gravel. I purchased my 24-36" Planted 3.0 from Aquarium Co-op 2months ago and began using Bentley's "Day Sim for Shallow Tanks" with the intensity reduced to 30% since My tank was not heavily planted. Way too much light with hair algae everywhere! Stumbled on Streetwise's duel siesta settings and have been using them for 5 days with whites reduced to to 30% since I have the 24-36" 32 watt device. Mostly crypts and Java Ferns but have recently added 5 bunches of stems to "out compete the algae". Am I in the ballpark with these settings or should I start even lower?

Retired, 74 years old, and have had aquariums intermittently all my life. Hobby wise, it is lonely in Nashville with no aquarium clubs, only one LFS besides the Big Box chains. Presently caring for a standard 20 G with 5 head and tail lights, 3 Otos, 3 Amano and 2 Blue Dream shrimp. Recently upgraded from 2 clamp-on 13 watt CFB to a Planted 3.0 from Aquarium Co-0p. I am following Streetwise's Planted 3.0 Schedule thread with great interest. Hope to learn a lot and eventually be able to contribute.
