What heater is it? Looks like the fluval one if I had to guess. They might be a defect or scratch from those metal clips on the surface. Can you get your nail in there in any way?

Fluval, yep. I felt like I almost could, so I chucked it.
This one: Fluval M50 Submersible Heater,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0027VMPXA?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

2 things I don’t mess with- leaky tanks and questionable heaters.

My first two adults completely ignored the calcium chips from crayfish empire, at least long enough for them to dissolve into the substrate. The bladder snails liked them. Lol. I plan on trying them again now that I have a feeding dish and ramshorns as well. So far I've been putting in those vacation feeder blocks that are basically a super hard calcium block with a tiny bit of food. Everyone likes those. And the snail pellets have calcium and I mixed a ton of calcium powder into my last batch of repashy, which we're still working through.

I’m doing something similar. My Soilent green Repashy is mixed with calcium carbonate powder, and I always have some cuttlebone in the tank. I break up the nano banquet blocks and put those in from time to time. The mysteries seem to prefer the banquet blocks over the calcium chips now.

Lately I have been feeding Snello after dark because otherwise the fishes steal it.

I have gotten several of their sample items. Their snail pellets are one of the things my first zebra nerite was eating the first few days in my tank. I'm getting low on those though, so I need to order a full size pack soon.

Good to know. I haven’t tried anything yet off their site personally, because when I made Repashy Snello it made A LOT!  I’m trying to get through that; I have all the little cubes frozen. Plus I keep feeding veggies too.

The calcium chips I got are from lifewithpetsgci.com, but actually it seems my guys are tired of the flavor or something?

But this was the initial reaction.

  4. Congrats! How exciting!

Breeder boxes have slits on the sides to allow fresh water to constantly circulate through. I wonder if you could somehow mod your Tupperware to ensure water is flowing in and out, so that the food doesn’t foul the water in their little habitat?

Oh, this is great! I've got a journal in my signature about my hatch of mysteries, and @Chick-In-Of-TheSea has a much more in depth one of theirs. Lots of info about feeding and cleaning in theirs.

    And now @TeeJaydoes too!

  5. I get confused about algae wafers. I think the other day I put on another post that they were a good first food, according to a breeder , but then I looked back at my notes yesterday and it says that I fed them, but my guys did not eat them. I did try them whole and also broken up. They ate some later though, once they grew a bit more.

I also wonder if different colored snails like different foods? Like how one type of nerite will eat vegetables and another type will not? 🤷‍♀️

I feel that this is, no joke, a community service announcement!  It may well be why the "thanks" button was created.  So, thank you for your service to the community!

    Of course!

And just a reminder folks, to stock up them tanks with all your favorite Aquarium Co Op equipment! ☺️

  7. Woke up this morning, got my coffee, checked on fishies and snails, then walked into the living room.. and spilled my coffee in the process! Not to worry though. It all went in my shoe which was there on the floor. Only a drop or two on the carpet. 😅🙂

Perhaps a binge watch of all of them is in order in my near future. Saw them all in the theater. The first Hobbit they had used a new 3D camera and the opening scene was zooming OUT through trees, and I remember feeling like I was kinda being swallowed by the trees and the foliage. It was incredible. 😍

The little one is an amazing fish for making it through all of that.

2 little ones made it!  Remember his buddy had it too. Can’t even see his scars anymore; his lateral line came back in nice & solid black.

Pour 1 gal, measure, then mark it accordingly?

Yes.. annoying! I did all that first and THEN I made the template.

Looks awesome and I love the upgrade! Be sure to add it to the filter mods thread please!

Thanks! And how did I know you were gonna ask that? 😂

Link the mod thread? I can’t find it.

  10. I just looked back in my journal to see what I was feeding my snails when they were your snails’ age.

Egg yolk (they loved it but it fouls the water easily. If you try it, just let a little coat a toothpick and then swirl that in the water.)

Cucumber, boiled. They loved this. ❤️

Java moss. They loved this and were on it constantly ❤️

Calcium chips & snello- I removed a lot of this stuff but I imagine they must have eaten some

Algae wafers- they did NOT eat these👎
