Fish Folk
Well... the old long-finned blue boyfriend, as big and handsome as he was, didn’t treat her right. So! We’re on to a “new betta boyfriend.” He’s an older man... she seems interested. Put a black foam circle in to encourage bubble nest building. Tank looks a mess, but water was just changed. Decomposing Catappa leaf and other hornwort droppings are allowed to decompose and establish micro life. The cut-away clear jugs are a dream for moving and separating bettas.
Daedalus
Nice set up. I prefer to use a clyindrical tube as a cave for the bubble nest. There's three advantages to it. 1. It prevent the bubbles from popping. And makes the fish feel safe 2. When they spawn the female can be out of sight from the male to prevent aggression and it makes removing the female easier 3. When they finally spawn and you have eggs the male doesn't have to swim all the way to the bottom to gather the eggs. It saves his energy since he won't be eating for a few days Good luck with the spawn! Edited March 17, 2021 by Daedalus
