I’m thinking about placing a 29 gallon tank on a piece of ikea furniture the kallax.I’ve heard mixed things about doing it. Maybe if I reinforce it that will make it stronger.

Well, just remember that 29 gallon tank is going to be about 300 pounds after water and substrate.  
Does the manufacture say what the furniture is rated for?

My fear isn’t so much it holding it all, it is that side to side motion with those little locking things that furniture needing assembly comes with.  Particle board, moisture, a little lean left or right.   
Maybe if you could place a support on at least the four corners .   Good Luck

I have a 75g on a 2x4 Kallax. A wise move would be to add either a diagonal piece of wood or some board on the back. I haven't, and it's all good, knock on wood. 

I also maybe should have put a water- proof top on it.

As @Brian and @darkG have said the weight shouldn't be an issue.  A black 1/4 inch plywood or hardyboard backing will make this pretty bulletproof.  If you can glue and nail it to the back.  If you need to drill through it to get cords and airlines through it shouldn't be an issue, just stay away from the edges.
