subramn
Hi My earlier reading for general hardness was 8 and kh was 6. I put crushed coral in hang on back filter and the GH went to 10 in 3 days but KH stayed at 6. Added API Aquarium salt as well. how to naturally increase KH to 8. any recommendations please. ChemBob
The crushed coral should add carbonate to your water. One possibility is something in your water is consuming the carbonate by generating an acid, decaying plant matter or simply the nitrogen cycle of the tank. You can try adding more crush coral. However, if your parameters are stable and your fish are happy, I'd leave it be. Any issues with fish or plant health? Is your pH stable at 8? That is probably just fin for guppies.
