Noticed earlier today, few small strings, now they are as long as the fish. Did the med trio few weeks ago, fish looks healthy and eating, but few days ago it was really mulching on a plant, which I found strange...

Anyone seen something like this and if it is an internal parasite, what would be the best to use to cure. Thanks a lot!

Looking at symptoms you fish is displaying I would treat for internal parasites

Thanks Colu for taking the time to reply to my question and Happy New Year!

The more I look into this, the more I am not sure this is internal parasite, it is not moving like a worm for sure... Here is what I found on the topic:

That is very interesting, what do you feed it? Maybe that could have something to do with it. Happy New Year too!!!

For now just a bit of flake food, and being the only fish in 45 Gallon tank (+one pleco), I am not sure it always eats, but I see him (his name is Kevin 🙂 snaking some detritus worms from time to time and the day before it was really going after one long plant, which I have never saw a hatchet fish to do before in my life... Now I am watching to make sure it eats the flakes ...
