Kat_Rigel
Another article for your consideration. I grew up in the Great Lakes region and found this article very interesting. Talks about the food web essentially and how even a tiny invader can really mess things up. https://www.nationalgeographic.com/environment/2020/12/invasive-water-fleas-decimating-plankton-in-great-lakes/
Rikostan
I currently live on lake Ontario and while I haven't see the plankton issue, I have seen the water drastically change over the last 20 years from the mussels. Interesting read, thanks for sharing!
Streetwise
Zebra Mussels. Clear water, out-competing everything that eats algae. They are also the bane of Lake Champlain, with Eurasian Milfoil next.

Since then I've picked them off the dock at our camp every chance I've had. I'll add those bass tourneys have gotten bad recently. I've never seen so many dead fish wash up.
Streetwise
Was Cyanobacteria the problem for the bass, or something else?
MAC
From my understanding it was bad catch and release practices from the tournaments.
