Any good ideas for carpeting plants?

Just looking for some good carpeting plants for my 5 gallon tank. I do have some Java moss in there but only as a bladder snail egg trap. I’m just looking for an easy, brighter-green carpeting plant.

If you’re not using co2, dwarf sag or montecarlo could be a good carpet.

Depends how long you want to wait, for a full carpet in very little time (with the right care), I’d go dwarf sag. If you want to maybe have a quarter carpet in 2 years, go with the parva. Crypt parva would totally work, but it grows painfully slow.

Crypt lucens is a little bigger than parva and could fill in nicely.

Also Lucens grows faster then Parva and I have less issues with algae.

I was looking at montecarlo, but I hear a lot of mixed opinions about it. Some people say it is a great easy carpeting plant, while others say it is extremely hard to keep alive. I do like the idea of Monte Carlo, so I might as well try it out.

I had a pretty good experience with monte carlo in my 10g with sand substrate and co2. I could never get it to establish in my 75g with seachem flourite.

Dwarf chain sword is the easiest short carpet to grow in my experience. It's the only short carpet I really recommend if you aren't injecting co2. Dwarf sag is good also if you want something super tall that will reach the top of your tank.

Yea, dwarf sag in a 10 gallon acts more like Valisneria, reaching the surface pretty quickly.
