ccurtis
How big does an angel fish need to be before it becomes sexually mature? I have a large angel probably a little over a year old. It’s about the size of the bottom of a coffee cup. I just added 3 more to the tank (it’s a 125g) but they are just slightly larger than a 50 cent piece. It sounds silly, but I feel like one is trying to pair up with my large one.
ange
Size isn't necessarily an indicator of sexual maturity, I've seen some stunted angelfish that were mature. In my experience they'll start to spawn at 10-12 months. The 50 cent piece sized ones are unlikely to be mature but there's obviously the chance since the age is unknown.
FrostiesFishes
If you want a pair try and play musical fish and move them around. I find in large communities tanks sometimes they won’t pair off. I’ve got a bunch in a 75 and I know I have both sex’s because I’ve got proven pairs and broken up pairs in this tank. This tank is where all my extra breeders go. And I have no pairs formed or eggs being laid.
FrozenFins
Angelfish will reach sexual matturity at 6 months - 1 year old. You may need to grow these new guys out before they start pairing off. Also if you want a guarentee pair in the batch I would add 4 more angelfish to make the total of 8 angelfish.
