Problem is the light won’t turn on unless you physically touch the button on top it’s a major flaw…

I have a tank with the same issue. Power supply runs both the filter and the light. You can't put them on timers. My daughter got a fluval chi. It was free from Dustin and fluval.  It's actually a cool little tank. Has a square filter with a light underneath it, And the filter runs like a waterfall down a square block. Manual switch on and off is the only way to run the light. Therefore, it runs continuously. So far, no issues with algae though. Only 1 betta and some plants (also free from Dustin, of course). Not enough of a bio load to grow any sort of algae, yet
