Jeff
I'm setting up a Quarantine tank. And am curious about how long to run the light. I read through the Co-Ops article, but didn't see anything about the light. Do you only turn it on when you go check on the fish? Do you run it, somewhat normally....5-6 hours? https://www.aquariumcoop.com/blogs/aquarium/quarantine-tank
Guppysnail
I leave it off when I first add the fish. I turn it on an hour or 2 later on the lowest setting. My time length it normally the same as my other tanks. The brightness depends on how the fish are acting and adjusting and if I have live plants or not. I try to light acclimate them to whatever brightness and time length their final home tank is.
Tony s
Fish don’t actually need the light. Plants do. You do when you’re checking on them. Room light is sufficient for a tank with no plants.
AllFishNoBrakes
I have (1) 36" light across (3) 10 gallon tanks, 2 of which are QT or grow out tanks depending on my needs. This light is on for 10 hours per day just like all my other lights. I do keep a gang of moss in those tanks.
