JS Fish 20 Gallon Journal

Recommended Posts

--------> Saturday, Feb 3, 2024

I started this tank about a week and a half ago. For the hard escape I used 40 pounds of white sand, mountain stone, and mopani drift wood.

These photos are of it the day I set it up.

I just today after about a week of cycling  the tank added in plants. The plants I used are:

java moss

● moss ball

water wisteria

● dwarf baby tear drops

Wonderful start! Do yourself a HUGE favor. Be patient and don't add either the shrimp or the Otos until a significant amount of time has passed and the tank pretty well established. :-) They will do better and have more food availability. Add the Rasboras first. I think this tank is going to look great! That Mopani will add a lot of nice tannins to the water which they will all like!

Yep. I'm already seeing alage and film on the top of my water. I also just today had my local pet store order 10 chili rasboras. They should be there in around 3 to 7 days for me to pick up.

I hate algae soooooo much! I am getting some diatoms in my new 10g right now. Not really “algae” I guess but I hate it!

What  happened @JS Fish?

The fish came in sick and most died a few days after I got them. I treated them with medicine right after i got them but it was to late unfortunately.

Sorry about not posting soon, I got really busy with my school work for a while.

Nice! I love that driftwood with the algae look. So into the natural aquascapes, again, amazing looking tank @JS Fish, and again, great job!!!

Thanks, I've been doing alot of research to try to get better and more familiar with aquascaping and fish keeping in general

I'm thinking about adding a bamboo shrimp. Any thoughts?

That sounds great! Real quick, can you remind me of the stocking on this tank? Like how many fish you have? Then I will give u my thoughts on these boys!

Nice! Obviously just one for a 20g, with they’re diet being, ⬇️

tiny frozen foods such as cyclops and baby brineshrimp, along with regular feedings of zooplankton or phytoplankton and ground-up flake foods.
paremeters here ⬇️

68° - 85° F (20° - 29° C) pH: 6.5 - 7.9.

They like a higher flow of water I believe. You might know all of this but idk if you do @JS Fish, hope this is what you meant?
