rgb_aquarium
Has anyone tested the aquarium coop air pump with the battery backup with one of those usb solar panel on Amazon? In theory, the backup battery can last you through the night and resume charging in the morning? 1
Fish Folk
This needs to be tried! I haven’t… but if you do, document it all. 1

It seems to be working in the morning. The air pump seems to be charging. Will see what happened at night. 2

rgb_aquarium
After night, I can said this totally work. I checked around 4 am in the morning and it was still running. And as of 10 am, the battery is full again. Disclaimer: I am in Souther California so we get sun more than most. The only weird thing. The aeration seems to be a little bit weaker at night. I am not sure if had to do with it running on battery or atmospheric pressure at night (outdoor). But it was definitely still running. Hopefully, this will continue long term. KaylynnWall
In theory, a USB solar panel should be able to charge the battery backup during the day, allowing the air pump to run throughout the night. Just make sure the solar panel you’re using has enough power to fully charge the battery during daylight hours. If you’re in an area with lots of sun, it should work well. For anyone looking to set up something similar or needs more info on solar setups, reaching out to some solar panel installers could be helpful.
