  1. Try the picture frame aisle from Walmart.
  2. Just want to share my DIY water change kit. It is cheaper and more effective than a python. It is also pressure resistance. You can drain and refill using the same hose. You can easily change between vacuum or hook. Quick connect the siphon bulb at the end of the hose to drain. Once done draining. Quick connect to a garden faucet adapter to refill. You really only need the vacuum but the hook is a nice addition. Hose repair quick connect x2 (one on each end on the hose) Female quick connect (connect to a garden faucet) Laifoo siphon bulb 1/2" clear vinyl tubing *Indoor: garden hose faucet diverter Gravel vacuum Garden hose shut off valve 1" clear acrylic tube 3D printer strainer cap Silicone bonded tape PVC hook Garden hose shut off valve Male quick connect 1/2 slip x 3/4" FHT fitting 1/2" 24" PVC pipe (8" PVC U-bend using a steel spring tube bender over a kitchen gas stove) 1/2" PVC coupling 1/2" PVC elbow 1/2" slip strainer
  3. After night, I can said this totally work. I checked around 4 am in the morning and it was still running. And as of 10 am, the battery is full again. Disclaimer: I am in Souther California so we get sun more than most. The only weird thing. The aeration seems to be a little bit weaker at night. I am not sure if had to do with it running on battery or atmospheric pressure at night (outdoor). But it was definitely still running. Hopefully, this will continue long term.
  4. It seems to be working in the morning. The air pump seems to be charging. Will see what happened at night.
  5. It might be too late if you already setup the tank. What about under gravel filter? Much sleaker.
  6. I think it the same concept as some of the Fluval canister FX series. They have a drain valve at the bottom of the filter. Cooler suggestion. What if you also add a battery powered blue tooth control valve? One of those you install on faucet for irrigation. Then at a click of a button. Autodrain water change.
  7. Has anyone tested the aquarium coop air pump with the battery backup with one of those usb solar panel on Amazon? In theory, the backup battery can last you through the night and resume charging in the morning?
  8. The ‘Dumbo Koi Guppy’ line is already available in Vietnam. It pretty new 1-2 years. Some U.S. imported also started selling them. You basically get them by crossing a Koi Red Ear male with a Dumbo Red Tail female with dark pectoral fin. The key is the dark pectoral fin with the female, and big red ear with the male.
  9. I use 10x10 PVC Expanded Sheet on Amazon. It fit perfectly on a 10 gallon. No cutting requires.
  10. I took some suggestion and made some changes. I reversed the airlift to the other side. The airlift should now carry the eggs to the other side to hatch. The fry will be protected by the sponge divider. I can still do water change on the parent side without affecting the fry. One issue I found when testing is the the airlift suction is not strong enough to pull all the nano pellets across the surface area of the breeder side. No matter how much air was used. A solution I came up with is to just use a turkey baster to blow the eggs into the airlift intake.
  11. Unfortunately no, the pellets is not getting pull through. My next plan is to look for item to build some sort of ram where the eggs can fall down to the other side.
  12. Woah!! It exactly what I was going for! I am trying to find a way to do the same thing but easier setup. I am not good at cutting and gluing glass.
  13. Hi @TOtrees, no problem. I appreciate the feedback. Always looking for way to improve. I thought about the eggs getting suck up. It why I didn’t bring the PVC pipe all the ways down. I have it about 2 inches off the bottom. And the air pump isn’t that strong. It just the USB clip on air pump. You are right regarding the non-porous screen like glass divider (like a sump). It would be better flow to gather the eggs. But I am not DIY enough to cut and glue glass. So I did the next best thing using sponge wall. It easy plug in. I am going to test it when I get home. I am to drop a few nano pellets to see if it work.
