I have now!  What caught my eye was the Coral Red Pencil fish in your original post.  My water is probably much too hard for those.  LFSs stores around me tend to stick to the most commonly available fish.  I have seen the Odessa Barbs in the more dedicated LFS.

What is your pH at? I have some Red Beckfordi Pencilfish right now and I am sure they are bout same parameters. I have mine at 7.0-7.2 range and they seem to be doing quite well. My LFS is ok...has some things and buys a bit of rarer stuff from hobbyists, but besides that its not much to write home about.

I love the furcatas at LFS.  They have super bright fins on the side that they flap up and down like bird wings.

Color me interested now...Google time!

I spent my entire fish keeping avoiding cichlids like the plague. I only ever heard fighting and killing one another and everything else. I found no interest in that.

As it turns out I’m a dwarf cichlid girl through and through. 🤣

@Guppysnail I, too, haven't really dabbled much into the cichlid world bar my angels, but when I did this last big tank and got the GBRs, I now know why folks love dwarf cichlids so much. They really are super friendly and come to the glass anytime I am near(awaiting food of course lol). Def have taken to "The Three Amigos" as I call them. One of the reasons I am redoing the fish room is so I can actually get into specialized tanks and breeding hopefully. 🙂

That is a piano snail. Unfortunately I had Apisto babies that needed a grow out so the hardness and ph got a touch low so his tip eroded a touch. I turned it to a melini cory grow out CPD breeding tank and fixed it.

I like how his foot is speckled.

When Gup first got the GBRs they were in a top tank. She was cleaning the bottom tank and then looked up and she said all the GBRs had their snoots pointed down looking at her. 😂

They still do this. I set up a grow out under their tank Sunday. I had an audience the entire time. They are such interactive water puppies. 🥰

My pH averages about 6.6.  I thought I read somewhere recently that the pencilfish  require softer water than mine.  My GH is 200+

As per normal, I can't find that information today.

Maybe they do, but right now they seem right as rain and mine is def baseline 7.0 most times.
