Novabound
I noticed while taking out the trash that this was growing all over the spout from my roof gutters. Is this pennywort? And if it is, could i put this in my aquairums? I'm aware of using hydrogen peroxide for sanitizing plants but are there other steps i should take before introducing it to an aquarium? Thank you! H.K.Luterman
Sure does look like it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrocotyle_vulgaris You could put it in a container for quarantine and let it transition to being under water just to see how it does.
Daniel
It is definitely Hydrocotyle (Pennywort) for sure. All Hydrocotyle prefers wet, boggy edges. Not all Hydrocotyle will grow submerged. It is a noxious weed in my garden here in NC. I brought some back with a fern I brought from the coast and the Hydrocotyle that came back with the fern escaped and I have been unable to get rid of it. It is native though.
