vividheckel
Hi, I have three pea/dwarf puffers in a ten gallon that I've had for about five months now (keeping fish for about five years now). I want to upgrade their tank to a twenty long soon, and was wondering whether they would be compatible with any bottom-dwellers -- I was specifically looking at zebra plecos (yes, I know); honeycomb catfish; or something similar (a colorful-ish complement to the puffers). With their price, I really want to make sure that the two species are compatible. Not hoping to breed anything, just a pretty tank that I can admire. 😁
Rewcolee1
In my opinion, I don’t think you’d have any issues with the bottom dwellers you mentioned. Based on some experience the Pea Puffers I’ve kept will nip at fins, but that’s about it.

I thought so too, but just wanted to make sure that opinions on similar fish applied to these!
MAC
I would avoid pea puffers with any fish that is somewhat sedentary. The only time I've had a pea puffer successfully coexist with another species long term (9 months or so) was mosquito fish (gambusia)
Colu
From what I have read about zebra plecos they like high flow very well oxygenated water and a higher temperature than pea puffers they prefer low to medium flow slightly lower temperature I don't think they would work @vividheckel
