Mama pleco has white growth on cut up lips from being caught in net for a maybe 3 days while I was away. She tried to free herself as she was caught. I just moved her to a new set up 10G since her tank has 100 babies eat alot, etc dirty. She was in 76F, ph 8 high kh, gh. Should I start Melafix? How about fritz zyme7 if I put in a existing sponge filter. Any treatments you recommend ? Would colder water be better for healing or warmer water to encourage eating. I imagine it hurts to eat.

I’m afraid salt may not be good for my Bristlenose Pleco. She has open wounds but i’ve read plecos in general don’t like salt. Do you find it beneficial in some plecos?

Low levels of salt are fine with Bristol nose plecos it will aid Gill function and add essential electrolytes which is beneficial during treatment

Mama pleco’s net wounds show after white fuzz disappeared. Not eating or moving at all. GH 200, KH 140, pH 8.2.,  76F .Maracin started at  5 p.m. Sunday, Melafix 1 dose day Saturday. Forgot salt with senior moment and 17 tanks. Now not sure if salt is needed on wounds since growth disappeared or if fungus med is needed since no visible signs. Turkey baster cleaning shows me signs of life! Lethargic and appetite seem to be main symptoms. Wonder if any of these are bad for symptoms, Maracyn, salt, fungus cure, melafix. What improves swimming and eating?1B645B5B-5B3C-4DA9-8D21-37E67B12B111.jpeg.377e00f1733f641d28cd51aef730f415.jpeg3D0BF589-A37D-473D-9B83-5C77F085DD21.jpeg.6e8a0d9736e93fbd32875176f2023625.jpeg33E1DF50-F5BE-443B-89A2-33BC3650CE6B.jpeg.9753701c91aa48e87e0e4e8d54678e01.jpeg3D0BF589-A37D-473D-9B83-5C77F085DD21.jpeg.6e8a0d9736e93fbd32875176f2023625.jpeg

The fact that the eyes have sunken isn't a good sign with Bristlenose it mean there very sick it can be a sign of starvation have you noticed it eat anything and does it have a sunken belly also it looks more like secondary bacterial infections on the site of the net injury I would Keep treating with maracyn and salt 1 table spoon for 3 gallons I wouldn't go above that with Bristlenose as they can be sensitive to salt
