I know thick-lipped commonly get labeled as "red honey gourami" when they aren't actually a honey. I also know that real red honey gourami do exist. I just got sent this pic from someone interested in doing a trade. They don't exactly look like thick-lipped to me. Are they real red honey or am I off and they actually are thick-lipped?

I feel like my honey gourami look more slender than these guys. These look more like the Dwarf gourami (Trichogaster lalius) I've seen at stores than honey gourami to me.

I'm leaning that way too. They just look slightly different than the ones I've seen so I wanted to be sure.

Honeys don't seem to have such dorsal fins on males, unlike many gouramis.

So I wanna say thick lipped

They are very cute btw!

Male/Female pair of sunset thicklipped gourami. I'm pretty sure all "red honeys" are actually thicklips.

EDIT to add: This is a full grown, mature pair. They are lovely to my eye!
