josh world
I have a tetra 100 air pump and I cant put a check valve on it because the air flow is so strong that the check valve whistles. Do you have any idea of what to do?
Streetwise
Can you place the pump above your tank?
Administrators Cory Posted November 1, 2020 Administrators Share Posted November 1, 2020 It whistles after you connect the other side of tubing? The pump whistles or it whistles coming out of the check valve?

Administrators Cory Posted November 2, 2020 Administrators Share Posted November 2, 2020 I'd just put the other piece of tubing on it, and then does it still make a sound once hooked up with air going into the aquarium?
josh world
It makes the sound all the time even when it is on the tank.
Dandy Pearl
@josh world If what @Cory mentions doesn't work you could potentially try a different make/model/brand of check valve. The whistling is coming from a harmonic of the flow across the valve diaphragms. This is exactly how we talk, so a different valve with different 'build specs' should be different enough to fix the problem. Also try adding air stones with valves to the system. The air stones and valves will essentially reduce the flow rate due to the back pressure, the lower flow is another parameter which affects the whistle. I hope one of these ideas helps you out.
