TheSwissAquarist
I caught this little blighter in my 10 gal cube, where I never even PUT more than one assassin snail in?!? I thought they were supposed to be asexual?
Guppysnail
No they must have a partner. I’m not certain of details on assassins since mine are new but most snails can store spent for many months. So she probably was carrying Sperm from before you got her and now conditions are optimal to reproduce. 1

TheSwissAquarist
Drat! I was trying so hard not to get snails into my breeding tank!
Odd Duck
Assassin snails are not prolific breeders and should be easily controlled by moving them to a tank where they can stay. For instance a tank where you might have unwanted snails (other than assassins, 😆). Or just excess “pest” snails where you would prefer to have fewer snails. I put a single assassin snail into my angelfish tank because I had far too many bladder snails sneak in there. If I could find it now, I would remove it since the bladders appear to be controlled now. I would move that kiddo to a different tank, but you are very unlikely to get more assassins from that baby if it’s the only assassin snail in the tank. Yes, females can store sperm, but this little one won’t have been bred, so shouldn’t proliferate on its own.
TheSwissAquarist
I’ve already pulled 5 and they keep on coming up all over the place.

You can raise them and sell them. They’re one of the more expensive snails to buy.

In that case if helps that I got mine by accident. Looks like every cloud has a silver lining.
